Frequently Asked Questions
How far do I have to run?
There are no set distances. You simply decide how long you want to run for.
Is this event for the "elites" or experienced runners only?
No, absolutely not! Sure, there will be runners who are pushing the boundaries of what seems sensible but it is also ideal for runners who want to see how far they can run but are worried about entering a fixed distance race. For example, you could aim to run marathon distance in 6 hours but if you don't quite make the full distance that is fine but equally you might surprise yourself and go just past the 26.2 miles and complete an ultra!
Are there rest breaks?
There are no set rest breaks as you decide on when you walk, rest, eat or even sleep! The clock just keeps ticking or tocking! There will be a designated rest area for you to set up your camp!
Can supporters watch?
Yes, the only ask is that at night all supporters keep to the race set up area as we need to keep noise down to a minimum. During the day this should not be an issue.
Can we have pacers?
We would ask that you do not have pacers as it could interfere with other runners.
Can we stop anywhere on the track?
There will be a designated area for rest stops so we ask you to use that area. You must start and stop at this area to ensure your laps are recorded.
Will there be food and drinks?
We are aiming to have some tea / coffee. For the 24 hour runners we will provide 3 meals (12am, 6am and 12pm), 12 hours - 1 meal ( 12pm). There will be water but you must provide a cup / bottle.
Toilets & Showers?
There will be some toilets but no showers. During opening hours you could visit the sport centre - but the clock is still ticking!
How do we swap over in relay teams?
There will be no rules as to when you need to swap. Every hour, every lap....your decision. However, change overs must happen at the race "village" and not out on the track.
How will laps be recorded?
Each completed lap will be recorded (chip) and displayed in the race village so you can track your laps.
Do we keep running the same direction?
Every 3 hours, on the completion of your lap you will switch direction.
What happens at the race finish if we are half way round?
We will allow you to complete the lap you are on at 6pm on the Sunday but record the laps completed within the allotted time as your Official lap count. You can share on Strava or Instagram your final laps!!
Will this race act as a Spartathlon Qualifier?
Yes, I have looked at the rules and will make sure that it meets the standards...you just need to run hard enough!!
What happens if I decide to stop early?
That is absolutely fine, you do what you can! No pressure!
Can I leave the track and go home for a sleep!
No, we ask that all runners stay on site and use the race Village, bring a camp bed! If you leave we will assume you are leaving the event.
More to follow....
